I love it! (but very american…
)
That combined with SMART Grid-Tie inverters let folks hook up micro wind and solar (or other energy sources RF/EM harvesting) to Smart Grid-Tie inverters then plug them right into your wall to sell unused energy back to the utility company (PURPA LAWS).
Dinosaurs indeed. Cool? NOT. You guys killed this tech all the way back to TESLA.
Be happy we want to GRID-TIE and give you energy YOU need to run things.
“the house draws only power needed” – in what world DOES a ‘house’ (or anything else for that matter) ‘draw’ more than it needs? *******
“during low usage times, power is cheaper, and during peak times, it’s more expensive”
As far back as I remember (1950s) – we’ve always paid more during ‘peak’ demand times and less during ‘off peak’.
The savings IBM can provide is more efficient integration of distributed generation to reduce ‘demand’ for multi-megawatt plants.
0:10,, lol
” And provides us with life sustaining necesetys such as: Heat,Light, and Television”
sence when does television count as life sustaining?
yea you can easly say this is made in america
spartexx. mind if i call you sparky? Televison… yes. that bit is what is known as humour. the television bit. and that’s why i used an “-our” at the end of humor, so you migh understand that, too.
simple not stupid! refreshing! good job!!
Good one! Although dinosaurs use enormous amounts of electricity.
’sence when does television count as life sustaining?’
*whoosh*
‘in what world DOES a ‘house’ (or anything else for that matter) ‘draw’ more than it needs’
This world. Google ‘vampire power’ or ’standby power’..
Sorry, but this definition just doesn’t cut it. I work for a MAJOR computing company and we have ’standby power’ devices running 24/7. While one COULD claim this a ‘waste’ – tell me of another alternative should the mains power cut-off and no ’standby’ power be active.
Ideally one would have ’standby’ activate within picoseconds PRIOR to mains failing – when the mains output crosses the line of no return – but with today’s (known) power components such isn’t possible for reliable back-up.
ohh but it makes no sence, it´s illogical.. you humans are strange!
now please explain to me human.. what is the thing you call love ?
Go Green, Invest in Green & Count your Footprint down to 0. Simple HOME test…Unplug your TV, Computer when you AREN’t using them 4 one Billing period & see the difference. Europeans do it e/day.
i’m sorry but this video presents great ignorance, electricity does not waste, it does not stock pile.
learn a bit of physics before making videos on the topic.
Although some is lost in transmission, you are correct. This video represents the wool that is about to be pulled over your eyes.
Water is being supplied to my home all the time, yet I’m not constantly throwing away a bunch of water when I’m not home. This is totally stupid.
This is just plain adorable. I love it.
This is just a crazy idea, but what if all world governments limited the amount of vampiric power that appliances used, like Scwartzenegger?
I can tell a few ppl don’t listen for the point but rather try to make thier own point fit the video. 1st – this is SUPPOSED to be cute ( life sustaining..TV -childs voice-dino ) 2nd- the point -Our power grid was made almost 70 years ago and that TODAY we can make a smarter grid that would have great world wide effect and would include altern. energy sources to power our homes and reduce waste. If your homes’ elect wires are >70 years old are they efficient? are your h2o pipes rusted?
You are right, we don’t waste water when we’re not home, but a few of us waste a foul amount of electricity when we’re gone. What if all of our ‘not-home’ or off peak usage came from wind/solar power? wld that be stupid/wasteful? Remember there are generators & lines used to transmit the power in use even if you’re on a two week vaca – and energy is used for & lost in transmission. After ten mile delivery, a gal of H2O is the same – electricity loss can be 2-5% of output. Its an outdated system
You clearly don’t understand how electricity works. There are losses that occur when full voltage is continuously supplied to a device, or in this case a home. There is no reason to supply this power 100% of the time when people are at work, sleeping, etc. Multiply those losses by the millions of homes out there.
In addition, on a smart grid homes that generate more electricity than they use (through solar panels, mini wind turbines, etc) are able to sell the kWh back to the utility company.
“Most of it gets tossed in the garbage.”
That is the comparison I was referring to, the pizza delivery comparison to electricity delivery is weird. Yes there are losses, but my home isn’t one giant short to ground, as the pizza delivery straight to the garbage suggests.
this makes no sense to me. I think there are a lot of people out there how don’t understand how electricity really works. The grid does in fact need more power at times of higher consumption, but that can be measured right at the source, and even without it “being” smart. The resistance will change and you will have to necessarily “pump” more electricity down the lines to keep your “dynamos” from “stalling”.
You need to do some reading up. Be very suspicious. Same technology, new name?
So the government is going to shut down my power while I am gone from my house? So every time I leave and come back, I’m going to have to reset all my clocks and reprogram all the channels in my TV?
It’s my business when I want to use or not use the electricity service I am paying for. I don’t want a totalitarian government electrical grid.
Let’s go with free markets and the US Constitution. Check the 10th amendment, this is none of the government’s business.
